Six interconnected products. Two platforms. Five years of design ownership. Nexo centralises the entire investment workflow - deal flow, portfolio tracking, CRM, relationships, notes, an AI assistant, and a live financial dashboard - into a single internal tool.
The fund needed a comprehensive internal platform: deal management, company tracking, contact networks, note-taking, and a financial dashboard with live stock data. The challenge was multi-dimensional.
A dual-platform design system spanning web and React Native. Every interactive state covered - hover, active, disabled, error, loading. Strict naming conventions so engineers and PMs spoke the same language. Figma as single source of truth, doubled as QA test coverage.
End-to-end ownership of every feature: from JTBD research and feature shaping, through Figma design, to QA review and production sign-off.
A new cross-platform app was needed for macOS and iOS simultaneously. The traditional Figma → handoff → frontend implementation flow would have added weeks to the cycle.
Approach: Skipped Figma entirely. Designed the app directly in React Native using Cursor AI. Designed all states and interactions in code, treating the running app as the design canvas.
AI-native workflow: Used Cursor AI, Claude, and ChatGPT as active collaborators in the coding process. Engineers reviewed PRs instead of rebuilding designs.
As design lead: hiring and onboarding designers, running personal development plans, conducting design reviews across all product streams, running feature shaping sessions with PMs and analysts before each sprint, maintaining design system governance.
